I am originally from a small township east of Cleveland, Ohio, called Chesterland. It was a great place to grow up, but I knew I needed more for myself. By the time I was 27, I courageously moved to Florida working at Progressive Insurance in the claims department. My best friend and I, at the time, made plans to do this move together. When I accepted the offer to take a job in Sarasota claims department, she “chickened out”! (I had a complicated case of Crohn’s disease, too, at the time.) No matter what I do or did, Crohn’s is and was ALWAYS in the back of my mind. I had to learn to embrace it, or it won EVERY time!
By the time I was 28 years old, I met the love of my life. We married the same year and had our amazing son five (5) years later. We have two (2) rescue dogs, who we love dearly. I love animals so much that when an ASPCA commercial comes on I change the channel immediately.
With my professional side, my biggest accomplishment is the birth of our title company 25 years ago. I am personal with EVERY deal we touch. That is the joy in my job. Especially at the closing table when throwing confetti and watching their faces are priceless. I love to make people feel special on their closing day.
Then, six (6) years ago we started another successful title company for a major credit union located here in Florida. We are now starting a third title company for a successful real estate company in West Palm Beach.
Why I do what I do
I live every day in a joyful way and always bring fun to those I connect with at work or home. It was important to me to bring that way of being in to my company culture for those I work with and the clients we serve. After working for a few title companies, I saw the money that could be made in the title industry. I knew then, that was going to be my ticket to retirement. Hence, I learned the title industry from start to finish. So, after about three (3) years, Mellex Title was born. I was terrified to close my first transaction. The licenses were in place and, my account rep said, “Mel! What are you waiting for!” That was all I needed. That was 25 years ago! I love to make the closing experience for the parties involved, fun and memorable. At the end of the day, what is all about anyway?
